HISTORICAL ORDER FOR 5OO AIRBUS A320

BY INDIGO INDIAN COMPANY

Airbus launches hostilities on this opening day of the Paris Air Show. The manufacturer has just formalized a record order for 500 single-aisle A320 family aircraft from the Indian airline IndiGo.

Indian low-cost airline IndiGo announced on Monday (June 19) that it has ordered 500 single-aisle Airbus A320neo family aircraft, the largest volume contract ever in civil aviation.

It concerns aircraft to be delivered between 2030 and 2035. These new aircraft - the A320neo family also includes the A321neo, with a larger seating capacity - brings to no less than 1,230 the number of models of this type ordered by the company, which intends to surf on the explosion in demand for air travel in India.

With this new order, the largest single purchase agreement in commercial aviation history, the total number of Airbus aircraft ordered by IndiGo now reaches 1,330, making the airline the family's largest global customer. A320

Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, said: “It is difficult to overestimate the significance of IndiGo's historic new order of 500 Airbus A320 family aircraft. next decade, IndiGo can fulfill its mission to continue driving economic growth, social cohesion and mobility in India. At IndiGo, we are proud to be India's preferred airline for connectivity within India and with the India; and in doing so, we are one of the world's leading airlines. This order strongly reaffirms IndiGo's confidence in India's growth, in the A320 Family and in our strategic partnership with Airbus."

An order worth more than 50 billion dollars

According to industry analysts, the order is worth $55 billion at list price. However, discounts are generally granted by manufacturers. Airbus and Boeing are also competing in separate negotiations to sell 25 wide-body A330neo or Boeing 787 aircraft to Indigo, the sources said.

Another announcement with the Saudi company Flynas

According to information from Bloomberg, Airbus has also concluded negotiations with the Saudi company Flynas around an order for 30 single-aisle aircraft for an amount of more than 3 billion euros. Flynas announced last year its intention to increase the volume of its orders to 250 aircraft in order to become the first low-cost airline in the Middle East. At present, it has a fleet of 50 aircraft, mostly Airbus A320s, while around fifty aircraft have already been ordered from the European manufacturer.

Last Friday, the CEO of Airbus Guillaume Faury was delighted with a return of the aeronautical industry "to the good old days of excitement" at the Paris Air Show. And for good reason, even before the opening of the event, the manufacturer had mentioned the conclusion of agreements for 60 A320s and 10 A350s without revealing the identity of the companies delivered.

China could also offer incredible opportunities for the European aircraft manufacturer. Air traffic in China is growing much faster than in the rest of the world. According to Airbus, the country will need more than 8,000 new planes over the next twenty years. And the aircraft manufacturer intends to capture a good part of this market despite the entry into service at the end of May of the medium-haul C919 from Comac.

With more than 8,700 orders from more than 130 customers, the A320neo Family is the aircraft family of choice for airlines worldwide, across all business models.
