THE GREAT VEHICLE INSPECTION RACKET: THE EUROPEAN SCAM
WHO IS DRIVING THE PEOPLE TO REVOLT |

Europe should die of shame, and our leaders along with it. How long will citizens continue to silently accept being robbed ?
Vehicle inspections have not been a road safety measure for a long time.
It's a grotesque administrative charade, an ultra-violent mandatory levy, and a daily insult to drivers' intelligence. The public has been lulled to sleep with security rhetoric and environmental guilt-tripping to better mask an organized state racket.
The diagnosis is unequivocal: this system, corrupt to the core, has reached the end of its deception.
If European institutions and governments persist in maintaining this legalized extortion, they will only reap a storm. Anger is simmering, the people are at their wits' end, and by constantly squeezing citizens' wallets, they risk a backlash of historic proportions.
The technological hoax: When the on-board computer ridicules the State
Let's open our eyes to the technical absurdity of this vast charade. Today, every vehicle on the road is a computer on wheels.
On-board computers (OBD) and on-board electronics monitor every vital function of the car in real time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The slightest sensor malfunction, the smallest braking or ignition problem, immediately triggers a dashboard warning. Level 1, Level 2, then complete vehicle immobilization if the driver does not intervene.
The cars monitor each other down to the second.
In this context, what is the point of paying a fortune every two years for a technician to come and plug in a connector and visually inspect what the car is already screaming about in its own on-board reports?
It's absolutely ridiculous. People are being forced to pay for an outdated inspection, which comes "after the fact," solely to validate a mandatory administrative stamp. It's the very definition of extortion.
The height of cynicism: The absolute scandal of the electric car
But where the scandal turns into a tragic farce, where the hypocrisy of the lobbyists is laid bare, is with the massive advent of electric vehicles. It's the highlight of the show, the apotheosis of technocratic madness.
Who are we kidding ?
- What exactly are being checked on an electric car during these mock exams ?
Are we trying to check if the exhaust pipe is leaking when there isn't ?
- Can we measure the polluting emissions of an engine that doesn't burn a drop of fuel ?
- Do we inspect for oil leaks in a gearbox that doesn't exist ?
The truth is incredibly harsh: an electric vehicle is a factory-sealed high-voltage battery pack.
Vehicle inspection centers do not have the tools, skills, or even the legal right to open or intervene on these ultra-secure systems installed by manufacturers.
Millions of motorists are thus forced to pay astronomical sums for inspectors to look at... nothing. A simple visual inspection of the bodywork and tires, billed at a premium price.
This is a clear-cut scam, pure and simple blackmail where the State becomes an active accomplice of an industry that organizes planned obsolescence to force the renewal of car fleets and eliminate the working classes from the road.
The security lie in the face of global realities
To maintain this permanent hold-up, the technocrats tirelessly brandish the same scare tactic:
Safety. "Without vehicle inspections, there would be chaos and carnage on the roads," we are told repeatedly in a moralizing tone.
It's a blatant lie, a mass manipulation.
All you have to do is look up and see the rest of the planet.
Many countries around the world, including entire states among the most developed in North America or Asia, have never imposed any mandatory technical inspections on their citizens.
Their vehicles are moving, their people are on the move, and guess what ?
Their roads are no more deadly, and they do not record more accidents or mechanical failures than in Europe.
Road safety is just a smokescreen, a hypocritical pretext to mask the reality: the maintenance of a gigantic rent-seeking situation for the large private control networks well known to all.
These multinational inspection companies have locked down parliaments, infiltrated the European Commission and dictate draconian laws to ensure that billions of euros continue to flow directly from motorists' pockets into their bank accounts.
Conclusion: From democratic denial to general uprising
The evidence is clear, undeniable, and irrefutable: vehicle inspections are a European racket that must stop immediately. Citizens have been lulled to sleep by decades of propaganda, but the alarm bells are ringing.
The middle class and modest households, strangled by inflation and suffocated by disguised taxes, can no longer and will no longer tolerate this institutionalized plundering.
With major political deadlines and decisive election periods shaking Europe approaching, this issue is no longer a simple administrative dispute: it is social dynamite.
If leaders persist in their contempt, if they refuse to listen to the visceral frustration of the population and if they stubbornly insist on protecting the privileges of lobbies rather than the purchasing power of citizens, the situation will become catastrophic.
History has taught us what happens when a people are cornered, robbed, and treated with such cynicism.
The citizens' anger is turning into a deep, radical, and profound black rage.
If this system of extortion is not abolished outright, we are headed straight for a general uprising, a popular revolt of unprecedented violence.
Let the technocrats in Brussels and the ministers barricaded in their palaces take note: by pushing the people to the limit, the protest will no longer be settled at the ballot box, but in the streets.
And it will end very badly, like in 1789, with a social explosion that nothing will be able to stop. We need to say STOP, and we need to say it now. |

ALERT THE BIG HEIST ON
OUR DRIVER'S LICENSES HOW BRUSSELS IS BREAKING A LIFETIME CONTRACT |

A directive, passed behind closed doors by European institutions in 2025, is poised to commit a legal and democratic sacrilege under the guise of "road safety".
By 2030, the lifetime driving licence, this pink three-part document symbolizing autonomy and freedom, could simply be abolished and replaced by a precarious, revisable title subject to the whims of arbitrary medical checks.
This is an absolute scandal!!
This is a unilateral breach of a moral and legal contract between the Nation and its citizens!!!
The principle of non-retroactivity violated: A diploma obtained is a right acquired for life
In law, there is a fundamental principle that underpins citizens' trust in the law: non-retroactivity and respect for the initial contract. When you obtain your driver's license, investing time, money, and energy, the state issues you a permanent document .
This contract stipulates that your skills have been validated and that this right is granted to you for life, except in the case of serious misconduct on your part.
Trying to change the rules mid-stream for existing holders is heresy.
That the European Union wants to introduce new rules, probationary licenses or different versions for new generations of drivers is one thing.
But attacking the acquired rights of previous generations is another matter entirely.
Can we imagine the same thing for a doctor?
Should a practitioner who has undergone rigorous training, validated by a state diploma for life, have to appear before a commission every five years to prove that he still has the right to practice?
It's absurd. Worse, it's profoundly hypocritical: during the recent health crisis, the State rushed to call retired doctors back to the aid of the population.
At that time, they were not asked if they were up-to-date with the latest micro-technologies; their experience and knowledge accumulated over an entire career were praised.
Why should what is true for cutting-edge medicine not also be true for road driving?
The shameful targeting of seniors: The criminalized experience
Under the guise of polished statistics and technocratic orthodoxy, this reform unacceptably targets the most experienced drivers. It attempts to impose the received wisdom, the dogma , that exceeding a certain age automatically makes you a public danger.
This completely ignores the biological and professional realities of individuals. One can be of mature age, hold airplane or helicopter pilot licenses, master complex technologies, and possess reflexes and visual acuity far above average.
A lifetime of experience behind the wheel is the best guarantee of safety: anticipation, caution, and knowledge of the road network. Replacing this wisdom of the road with an administrative imposition is an insult to the intelligence and respect due to citizens.
By transforming a permanent permit into a provisional one subject to renewal, Brussels is sliding into widespread infantilization. This opens the door to medical arbitrariness and loss of autonomy, particularly in rural areas where the car is the only lifeline to social and medical life.
The final blow to an out-of-touch technocracy: The forced transition to full automation
Behind the European Commission's relentless pursuit lies a far more cynical truth: this reform is a low blow to the last generations of true drivers.
The medium-term objective is not to make the roads safer, but to discourage citizens from driving in order to prepare for the planned demise of the driver's license.
In the near future, self-driving cars are expected to become widespread, transforming our vehicles into mere passive and dehumanized means of transport. By making obtaining a driver's license more difficult today, Brussels technocrats are seeking to preemptively eliminate human resistance. They want to create a world where humans no longer have a say, entirely subject to algorithms.
However, the illusion of "zero accidents" through technology is a delusion. As we already see in advanced aviation, where excessive automation too often designates the human crew as the weak link, software failures and systemic errors do exist.
An accident is rarely the result of a single isolated cause; it is a chain of consequences that human intelligence and discernment are often the only things that can break it.
Eventually, true driving expertise will become the preserve of enthusiasts and collectors.
They will have to operate historic vehicles amidst fully automated traffic.
There is no justification for preventing a trained and respectful human driver from smoothly integrating into a flow of programmed trajectories. Prohibiting or jeopardizing this right now stems from a punitive ideology that rejects pluralism and freedom of choice.
A call to resistance: Let's reject the precariousness of our lives!
What is at stake here goes beyond mere road safety. It is a test of resilience for the sovereign people against the excesses of an unelected European governance.
If we accept today that the European Union tears up the original contract of our driving licence to comply with its delusions of total control, what will be the next "lifetime" right to be scrapped?
Our property titles?
Our diplomas?
Our pension rights?
We must spread the word. This article must be the starting point for a national movement. We are calling today for the creation of a National Anti-Provisional Permit Collective to:
Demand the absolute and unconditional maintenance of the lifetime validity of driving licenses obtained under the initial system.
Reject any form of mandatory medical screening based solely on age , which amounts to pure and simple discrimination.
Defending the right to human driving and respect for internal combustion and classic vehicles in the face of the forced standardization of the vehicle fleet.
To restore the supremacy of popular sovereignty over the detached directives of the European Commission. Let's not allow the Brussels bureaucracy to erase our most basic rights and freedom of movement with the stroke of a pen. A driver's license is a contract. A contract must be respected. Let's organize a response ! |

SAINT-PIERRE-LA-PALUD THE BASTIONOF AUTOMOTIVE PASSION FACING THE CHALLENGES OF TOMORROW |

As the 2035 horizon darkens for lovers of mechanics, the Saint-Pierre-la-Palud gathering stands out as a parenthesis of resistance and conviviality, celebrating a heritage that some would like to see disappear.
A heritage threatened by European "madness"
We must hurry to admire these engineering masterpieces while they are still traveling our roads.
Between the European Union's radical desire to ban internal combustion engines by 2035 and the explosion in fuel prices linked to current conflicts, the future of our automotive heritage is hanging by a thread.
This forced transition to "all-electric" looks more like a dead end than progress.
Behind the official environmental rhetoric lies an unreasonable industrial reality:
monstrous pollution linked to the production of inefficient batteries.
Faced with this destructive madness, the roar of an old engine is no longer just a pleasure, it is an act of historical preservation.
The unmissable event for Mines
It is in this context that the gathering in Saint-Pierre-la-Palud , located near the historic site of the Mines, takes on its full meaning.
Organised every second and last Sunday of the month , the event enjoys continued success.
The ever-increasing number of visitors testifies to a deep attachment of the French to these distinctive vehicles.
On site, the show is there:
- A large-scale exhibition: Numerous, varied and impeccably maintained classic cars.
- Total accessibility: Entry for visitors is completely free .
- Conviviality at the heart of the site: More than just an exhibition, it is an extraordinary place for exchange.
The excellence of volunteering
The success of these days rests on the shoulders of a team of dedicated and friendly volunteers .
Without their total dedication, such an organization could not exist.
They not only provide a warm welcome, but also top-notch catering.
Each session offers a different meal, of high quality and at an unbeatable price.
It is this alliance between mechanical passion and human generosity that makes Saint-Pierre-la-Palud a unique place.
"A huge congratulations to these volunteers who keep the flame of automotive heritage alive against all odds."
Practical information:
When: 2nd and last Sunday of each month.
Location: Saint-Pierre-la-Palud (Mines sector).
Price: Free.
Faced with the threats to our freedom to drive and to the survival of our exceptional machines, your presence is the greatest support.
This gathering is not just an exhibition, it is the beating heart of a community that refuses to see its history die out.
Whether you are a long-time collector or simply curious, don't hesitate any longer: come one, come all!
We need all of you to make this heritage shine, to keep our community alive and to prove that the passion for cars is stronger than bureaucratic decisions.

CHAMBERY AUTO MOTO RETRO TWO DAYS OF PASSION FOR BEAUTIFUL MECHANICS
DECEMBER 6 AND 7 AT SAVOIEXPO (FRANCE) | Every year, as December gently settles into Savoie, an event warms the hearts of enthusiasts of fine machinery:
Chambéry Auto Moto Rétro .
On December 6 and 7 , from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. , the halls of SAVOIEXPO will once again be transformed into a true showcase dedicated to automotive and motorcycle history.
An event that has become a must for those who love vintage vehicles, memories on four or two wheels, and the warm atmosphere of authentic gatherings.
Because Chambéry Auto Moto Rétro is not just an exhibition.
It's a celebration, an intergenerational gathering, a dive into a technical, cultural and emotional heritage.
From the moment you enter, you feel this very special atmosphere: a mixture of curiosity, shared passion and the simple pleasure of admiring machines that have stood the test of time.
A journey through the history of engines
One of the great strengths of this event lies in the richness and diversity of the vehicles presented.
Wandering through the aisles, visitors pass from an elegant 1930s sedan to a gleaming 1970s coupe, then from a legendary motorcycle to a meticulously restored utility vehicle. Each model tells a story of an era, a way of life, a vision of the road.
Here, chrome sparkles, original upholstery is admired like works of art, and engines often have the sculptural look of clockwork mechanisms.
Classic cars traditionally form the heart of the show: popular city cars, exceptional vehicles, vintage sports cars, rare prototypes…
A veritable living gallery that allows everyone to rediscover a mechanical Proustian madeleine: the car of their childhood, that of their parents or the elders of the village, the one that they dreamed of driving or that they admired in magazines.
But Chambéry Auto Moto Rétro does not forget the two-wheel enthusiasts: many vintage motorcycles, mopeds, scooters and iconic models enrich the exhibition.
From lightweight vehicles to robust machines, everyone can find something to remind them of the smells of gasoline, leather, and the charm of a simpler, more raw, sometimes more adventurous driving experience.
A lively, warm and profoundly human salon
What makes the event so beautiful, far beyond the impeccably restored mechanics, are the encounters.
The owners, often present near their vehicles, readily engage with visitors. They passionately recount the history of their model, the hours of restoration, the thrill of finding a rare part, or the satisfaction of bringing an old machine back to life.
These are genuine, spontaneous discussions, filled with anecdotes, smiles and mutual respect.
Chambéry Auto Moto Rétro also attracts many clubs and associations, who proudly share their colours and collections.
Each stand has its own atmosphere, its shared history, its traditions, and participating in the event is a way for them to share their passion, encourage community spirit and showcase a technical and cultural heritage that is often overlooked.
The event is designed to appeal to everyone: the most knowledgeable enthusiasts will find real rarities; families can enjoy a warm and educational moment; the youngest will marvel at vehicles that seem to have come straight out of a film or an ancient tale.
The atmosphere is benevolent, gentle, almost nostalgic, but never static.
You feel good there, you take your time, you walk around with a smile.
A paradise for bargain hunters and collectors: coins, miniatures and retro treasures
Auto Moto Rétro would be incomplete without its dedicated space for accessories, spare parts, documentation and collectibles.
This is one of the liveliest places in the show, where you'll find enthusiasts looking for that rare piece to complete their restoration, miniature collectors, fans of old posters, or simply visitors charmed by vintage objects.
You can find everything there: period pieces, tools, enamel signs, specialist magazines, scale models, advertising items, vintage car accessories…
A veritable Ali Baba's cave where the past comes back to life in all its forms. Even those without a restoration project often leave with a small sentimental souvenir: a catalogue, a miniature, a retro magnet or a period photograph.
An accessible, family-friendly and welcoming event
One of the great strengths of Chambéry Auto Moto Rétro is its friendly atmosphere .
You can come with family, friends, or even alone: the atmosphere remains welcoming and festive. SAVOIEXPO offers a spacious, comfortable setting, perfectly suited for moving easily between the stands and aisles.
The access, designed to be simple and seamless, allows everyone to enjoy the show in the best conditions.
The two-day program is designed to offer a complete and enjoyable immersion:
- A variety of stands to satisfy all tastes: discovery, shopping, photography, knowledge sharing… - Extended opening hours from 9am to 6pm, allowing everyone to take their time. - Activities, demonstrations, and meet-and-greets depending on the exhibitors present.
The December period also gives the event an even warmer tone: an ideal time to get together before the holidays, share a common passion, or simply treat yourself to a nostalgic getaway.
Why is it absolutely essential not to miss this edition?
Because Chambéry Auto Moto Rétro is much more than a show: it's a celebration of rolling heritage, a moment of sharing, an authentic and feel-good event.
On December 6 and 7, SAVOIEXPO will become the stage for a journey through time where engines tell a story, where bodywork shines like the first day, and where visitors wear on their faces the wonder of a return to the roots.
It's a generous, welcoming event, respectful of traditions, but resolutely vibrant. You learn, you have fun, you admire, you exchange, you remember… and above all, you leave with a light heart, filled with beautiful images, the smell of oil, and memories to share.
On December 6 and 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Chambéry invites you to SAVOIEXPO for two days of passion, nostalgia and discovery.
A charming, warm and unmissable moment for all retro lovers, young and old. |

ALPINE A310 4-CYLINDER STAND
THE 2025 EVENT AT EPOQU'AUTO |
2025 is not a year like any other. In the Alpine universe, it rings like a bell.
It combines a symbol, a history, and a thrill:
Alpine's 70th anniversary, a brand born in 1955 from the brilliant intuition of Jean Rédélé; and, as a happy echo, the 50th anniversary of the A310 1600 VG, the very last version of the first-generation 4-cylinder A310, produced in only 386 units. The Alpine A310 4-cylinder, so desired by Jean Rédélé and featuring an entirely French design (designers Michel Beligon and Yves Legal), was therefore built between 1971 and 1976 in approximately 2,340 units: the VE carburetor version from 1971-1973 (1,390 units), the VF version from 1973-1976 (699 units), and the VG version, whose fiftieth anniversary we are celebrating this year, which was manufactured in 386 units between September 11, 1975 and July 13, 1976.
A rare, desirable, almost confidential model, but one whose myth has remained intact.
It is in this context that the presence of the Amicale A310 4 cylinders at the Epoqu'Auto Lyon show, on November 7, 8 and 9, 2025, is remarkable.
Because yes, we must start by saying it clearly: the Amicale A310 4 cylinders is today the largest single-model vintage Alpine association in the world .
Not just in France. Worldwide. With almost 360 members spread across all continents, proof that a model we thought was niche is actually a global model, a magnet model, a passion model.
This association is rare in that it manages to combine erudition, kindness, dynamism, and humility. It is not an organization frozen in a mental museum:
It's a collective that lives, travels, helps each other, restores, documents, shares, discusses, organizes and unites. It therefore logically deserved an exceptional stand for an exceptional year.
For Epoqu'Auto 2025, she did it.
A "red, white, and blue" stand that will be remembered
The Association has chosen to draw inspiration intelligently and subtly from the first Alpine promotional visuals of 1955.
The iconic DNA of the beginnings.
Blue, white, red not as a fixed flag, but as a graphic wink, a visual breath, a tribute to the original photos from the Jean Rédélé era.
Except that this time, we weren't talking about A106 or A108, but about three Alpine A310 1600 VGs brought together on the same stand, a historic first.
Never before in the brand's history had three A310 1600 VGs been displayed like this, side by side, in a carefully designed, calibrated, and balanced setting.
It was more than an exhibition: it was a demonstration.
We need to remember what this version is, this "1600 VG".
It marked the technical conclusion of the A310 4-cylinder line. Under its hood, it housed the Renault 16 TX engine. At the time, in fact, its unofficial nickname, even in the press, was simply "A310 TX" .
Its marketing extended from September 11, 1975 to July 13, 1976. It had only a short career, but its pure silhouette, its taut line, its streamlined headlights, its shark-like gaze and its personality both sporty and racy, made it a desired, hunted, coveted object.
Even today, every copy counts.
Putting three of them together, restored to their level of excellence, was already a message. Doing it in 2025, for the 50th anniversary of the model and the 70th anniversary of Alpine, was a gesture.
An association that keeps heritage alive by rolling
What is striking and deserves to be praised is that the Association does not simply "exhibit".
She drives. She goes out. She participates. She lives. We saw her again a month earlier at the Lohéac Autobrocante, on October 4 and 5, 2025.
This time, the team had chosen a different configuration, just as instructive for purists: a metallic champagne Alpine A310 1600 VG conforming to the Renault 1975 documentation plates. A very specific example, finely documented.
Here again, the public reacted warmly. This color, very typical of the mid-70s, very "French seventies", has always had a special charm.
But it must be said: seeing it like this, on an authentic example, with the right specifications, presented by a competent team who know their car down to the last screw… is something else entirely than “simply seeing one in a photo”.
It's about transmission. It's about sharing sources, sharing archives, sharing emotion.
Epoqu'Auto 2025: more than just a presence, a signal
In Lyon, the Amicale clarified one point without unnecessary speech: yes, the 4-cylinder A310 deserves the spotlight.
Yes, it has its place in the great Alpine history, on the same level as the Berlinette, on the same level as the A310 V6, on the same level as the A610, on the same level as the contemporary A110.
For too long, the 4-cylinder A310 was seen as a "transitional" model. However, 50 years later, we understand that it was foundational .
It is this that anchors the modern Alpine silhouette. It is this that introduces the ultra-taut geometry in the style of a "futuristic French GT".
It is this car that opens the "Alpine road" chapter. It is the subtle bridge between the handcrafted side of the A108/110 and the more industrial/pre-production scale side of the A310 V6.
The Association, in truth, does not just defend a model — it defends a coherent reading of Alpine history.
A friendly, dynamic, and above all… useful association.
Why "useful"?
Because behind these legendary cars, there are real constraints: parts, documentation, archiving, manuals, variants, micro-batches, compatibilities, period sources.
An association that unites, centralizes, verifies sources, and helps avoid restoration errors is a public service in the noblest sense.
It's also about conviviality: the ability to come together around a specific model. Not around a catch-all, but around a targeted, detailed, demanding heritage.
What this association does very well is give meaning.
She takes things seriously, but not seriously "sad".
It's dynamic.
That's nice.
It's simple.
It's authentic.
And above all, it's open. Every enthusiast is welcomed without hierarchy, without condescending looks.
Conclusion
Epoqu'Auto 2025 will remain a milestone in the grand Alpine chronology.
The Alpine A310 4-cylinder stand of the Amicale was more than just a stand.
It was :
a tribute to Alpine's 70th anniversary
a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the 1600 VG
a tribute to those who maintain, restore, and preserve
And above all, it was striking proof that an association — when it is passionate, coherent, vibrant and humane — can magnificently embody a heritage.
The A310 4-cylinder club has demonstrated this.
She deserved it. She did it. |

EPOQU'AUTO LYON 2025
A GOOD SALON A HUGE SUCCESS |
Epoqu'Auto 2025 Lyon Eurexpo, early morning, hall opening
We are here.
Press badge around our neck, QR code for authorization on our smartphone.
Recorders ready.
And above all: keep your eyes open.
We, journalists from Daynewsworld, are on site for the three days.
Three days where we will not be "covering" the event in the administrative sense.
No.
We will experience it. And that is what we are writing here.
From the very first minutes, it's visible, clear, indisputable: there isn't an audience "present". There is literally an audience that is gathering.
Who is in a hurry.
It's almost crammed together. A lot of people.
Already. Crowded.
And yet… no heaviness.
Pure enthusiasm.
The first visitors lean over the first Traction Avant, as if it had just come through a time tunnel.
Technical whispers can be heard. We even hear phrases that we have already read in workshop books from the 1960s. They recite them like literary quotes. The first contact we note:
There is no sad nostalgia here.
Here, it is the tangible joy of a past that works.
Three hours later, our team split up.
A duo on a photo reportage.
We publish simultaneously on Daynewsworld.
I am writing these lines in the press room made available by the 3A and its volunteers, a fantastic team. And a quantifiable phenomenon is taking place.
Viewership is exploding. Our real-time data shows the jump.
Where we usually have 275 million unique daily readers worldwide… we are crossing the 300 million threshold.
The atmosphere was very good.
Everyone is interested.
We leave with a much rarer feeling:
The experience of having seen a country, in the broadest sense, remember itself. Here, the past was not displayed as mere scenery. Here, it resumed its function. It found renewed purpose. It reclaimed its sovereignty.
In the subdued hubbub of the latest announcements over the loudspeaker, in the metallic smell of the cooled car bodies, in the numerous reflections of the chrome that gradually lose natural light, we understand that this 2025 edition was not a parenthesis: it was an act.
An act of transmission.
A popular act.
An act of affection towards manufacturing genius, towards the hand, towards the gesture, towards patient matter.
And perhaps that, at the heart of it, is the real truth of this weekend: the public's enthusiasm, authentic, dense, knowledgeable, was not mere agitation.
It was a recognition. The visitors were not looking at objects: they were recognizing traces.
They recognized landmarks. They recognized pages of embodied history that could still be touched, approached, questioned.
In the light, the crowd disperses in waves, slowly, like a river returning to its source.
And we can say this without unnecessary emphasis:
Epoque Auto 2025 confirmed that the past is not behind us.
He continues.
He's still moving forward. And in Lyon (France) we had the privilege of hearing him breathe. |

EPOQUAUTO 2025
|
There are some events that no longer need an introduction, because they have become benchmarks. France, for its part, has decided to make it one of them.
And that will be the case again this year:
Époque Auto is back, and just saying its name is enough to make the whole world of historic automobiles look towards Lyon.
On November 7, 8 and 9, 2025 , at Eurexpo , the capital of Gaul will once again become the nerve center of European mechanical identity.
Époque Auto is the classic car show .
Not “a salon”, but THE Salon!
The one we mention with a smile that already belongs to our memory.
The one that makes every enthusiast say:
“Lyon? Yes… I know: we have to go there.”
Because this salon is not stuck in nostalgia:
It does not just display machines; it tells the story of the aesthetic, technical, industrial, and cultural evolution of the automobile.
It shows how our civilizations have progressed, dreamed, invented, and created.
It showcases France, Italy, Germany, England, America… and all those who have made mechanics a visual language.
And that is why at Époque Auto, each year is “a good vintage”, as we simply say because we know that time, experience, successive editions, thematic exhibitions, the rigor of the curators, the clubs, the restorers, the collectors, the craftsmen, the period pieces, the specialists… build what will remain in history.
Époque Auto is not an excuse to look at car bodies:
This is the place where you relearn about cars.
People come here to understand.
People come here to find themselves.
People come here to experience things.
The Pininfarina lines that dictated a global aesthetic.
Lancia's running gear rewrote automotive dynamics.
The racing V12s that shook continents.
The Jaeger dashboards, which were scientific instruments.
Steel, aluminum, leather, gasoline, bakelite: here, the material is not a support — it is a heritage.
We must also tell the truth:
Époque Auto is today the finest reflection of French expertise in the preservation and transmission of vintage automobiles.
There is no other place in Europe that brings together so many vehicles, so many clubs, so many trades, so many rare parts, so much mechanical memory — all at the same time — in the same place.
That's what makes it indispensable.
People come to Époque Auto to learn what history had almost erased.
People come here to meet mechanics capable of rebuilding a Weber carburetor for which no industrial plans exist anymore.
People come here to meet owners who can tell you the life story of a car better than they can tell the life story of a politician.
People come here to encounter passion — the real kind — the kind that explains things, not the kind that shows them off.
And naturally, Daynewsworld will be there to cover the event for its 275 million daily readers, and especially for those who will not have the chance to attend the show.
That's our role.
Our commitment.
Because automotive heritage is not just about aesthetics: it's about people.
To their knowledge.
To their patience.
And if the readers — our readers — cannot come, we owe them this presentation.
This is not communication.
It's from the press.
In Lyon, in November, vintage cars will not be just for show:
She will be the heart.
She will be the subject.
It will be the material.
It will be the immaterial made visible.
Auto Era 2025 is not a seasonal phenomenon: it is a cultural landmark.
We can put it simply, without embellishment:
There is no enthusiast of historic cars who can afford to ignore it.
So, see you at Eurexpo on November 7, 8, and 9, 2025 in Lyon.
And if you're not there, we'll be there for you !!

THE UNMISSABLE GATHERING OF CLASSICCARS IN FRANCE
THE RHÔNE-ALPES REGION | Having visited many gatherings all over Europe, it is in France, and specifically in the Rhône-Alpes region, that we found the two best gatherings of classic cars.
These gatherings of classic car enthusiasts take place in Sathonay-Village and Saint-Pierre-la-Palud. Everything is great there, and to top it all off, you can find excellent coffee and a selection of "super good" food.
Of course, it's worth remembering that Lyon and its surrounding region are the world capital of gastronomy, but still, hats off to these two gatherings. Incredible but true: even on bad weather days, the crowds are out in force.
But we must also not forget that all of this is thanks to all the volunteers of the associations whom we salute.
In a few days, the large International Époque Auto Show will be held in Lyon (on the Eurexpo site), but Sathonay and Saint-Pierre-la-Palud are like mini Époque Auto events, and this happens every month of the year.
If you are curious, if you love classic cars, then don't hesitate to visit these two monthly events which, like Époque Auto, are unmissable. .A region that breathes automotive passion
The Rhône-Alpes region has always been a territory where the automobile holds a prominent place. Between the winding roads of Beaujolais, the mountain passes of the Alps and the plains of the Rhône, the landscapes lend themselves perfectly to a drive in a classic car.
It is therefore not surprising that some of the friendliest and most renowned gatherings in France have been established there.
The gatherings in Sathonay-Village and Saint-Pierre-la-Palud are not just exhibition venues, but genuine moments of sharing and conviviality.
Every month, hundreds of owners, collectors, curious onlookers and photographers gather around exceptional vehicles: 2CVs, Traction Avants, Jaguars, Porsches, Ford Mustangs, Citroën DSs, and many more.
All this in a friendly atmosphere where people discuss everything from mechanics to childhood memories.
Sathonay-Village: elegance and tradition
Just fifteen kilometers north of Lyon, Sathonay-Village hosts a gathering that has become legendary every month.
The setting of the small town center, with its shaded square, gives an undeniable charm to the event.
Visitors flock there from the early hours of the morning to witness the arrival of the cars, often accompanied by a chorus of engines that thrills enthusiasts.
This event attracts not only local collectors, but also visitors from all over the Rhône-Alpes region and even from neighbouring Switzerland.
Word of mouth is working so well that, month after month, attendance continues to increase.
They offer croissants, pastries, local charcuterie and homemade dishes. Saint-Pierre-la-Palud: conviviality above all
A little further west of Lyon, nestled in the Monts du Lyonnais, in the commune of Saint-Pierre-la-Palud, this bi-monthly gathering has nothing to envy from the major international trade shows.
The more rural setting creates a warm, country atmosphere. Located within the grounds of the former mine.
The organizers — enthusiasts grouped into local associations — make it a point of honor to welcome everyone, whether it's prestige cars or simple "youngtimers".
You might spot a Peugeot 205 GTI right next to a pre-war Delahaye, or a Renault Alpine A110 alongside a Volkswagen Beetle. This eclectic mix is what makes these gatherings so special, where every car has its own story to tell. The spirit of community and the power of volunteering
"But we must also not forget that all of this is thanks to all the volunteers from the associations, whom we salute."
Without them, nothing would be possible. The volunteers are the true driving force behind these events.
They organize the spaces, manage traffic flow, welcome exhibitors, and ensure the smooth running of the morning. Their often behind-the-scenes work contributes greatly to the success and the positive atmosphere.
Many regional car clubs also participate in the event: clubs for vintage Citroëns, mini Austins, Simcas, or even American cars from the 50s to the 70s.
Each person brings their own personal touch, whether through themed exhibitions, elegance competitions or simple mechanical demonstrations.
When passion surpasses the weather
"Incredible but true, even on bad weather days there are crowds on site." This is undoubtedly one of the most striking characteristics of these gatherings.
Rain, wind, cold or fog: nothing stops the enthusiasts.
Sometimes, drops of water bead on the gleaming bodywork, and photographers capture these reflections on the chrome hoods. Conversations continue, engines run, and smiles remain.
It must be said that, for many, coming to Sathonay or Saint-Pierre-la-Palud is not just a Sunday outing, but a ritual.
It's an eagerly awaited moment, a break from the routine, an opportunity to meet friends and discover new cars at each edition.
While we wait for Époque Auto…
"In a few days, the major international Époque Auto show will be held in Lyon (at the Eurexpo site)."
This show, a true institution in the world of vintage vehicles, attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year.
But, as the original text points out, "Sathonay and Saint-Pierre-la-Palud are a bit like mini Epoque Auto events, and this happens every month of the year."
Indeed, these two local events reproduce, on their scale, the spirit of Époque Auto: diversity, passion, sharing and respect for automotive heritage.
The difference is the proximity: here, there's no need for an entrance ticket or endless queues. You can come freely, sometimes just to have a coffee, admire a Jaguar E-Type, or chat with a Fiat 500 owne.
An invitation to all curious minds
"If you're curious, if you love classic cars, then don't hesitate to check out these two monthly events which, like Époque Auto, are unmissable." It's a sincere invitation. Whether you're a casual enthusiast, a photographer, a seasoned collector, or simply a Sunday stroller, these two gatherings are sure to charm you.
You only need to go there once to understand: the noise of the engines, the smell of gasoline, the human warmth, everything comes together to make these moments a true celebration.
Conclusion: Passion as an inheritance
The gatherings in Sathonay-Village and Saint-Pierre-la-Palud are much more than just car shows. They represent a culture, a living heritage, and a transmission of know-how between generations.
In an era where modern vehicles are becoming increasingly quiet and electronic, these gatherings are a reminder of the importance of mechanics, design, and the sound of engines from yesteryear.
Thus, in the heart of the Rhône-Alpes region, these two places become symbols of a way of life: that of respect for the past, conviviality and the simple pleasure of coming together around a common passion.

HYDROGEN
THE ENERGY FIASCO OF THE CENTURY | Oh hydrogen !
This “miracle” fuel that manufacturers and certain governments present as the Holy Grail of clean mobility.
Reality ?
An energy scandal disguised as technological progress.
1. Hydrogen from petroleum: the original joke
Before even talking about electrolysis and electricity, let's remember a simple truth:
More than 95% of the hydrogen produced in the world still comes from oil and gas.
To produce 1 kg of hydrogen, approximately 10 to 12 kWh of fossil fuels must be burned, releasing nearly 10 kg of CO₂ into the atmosphere.
The car itself only emits water, but for that, the planet has already suffered a decent carbon footprint, much more than a diesel engine.
2. Electrolysis: the electricity-burning machine
For those who want to go “green” with electrolysis:
Massive heat loss:
Electrolysis consumes about 50 kWh to produce 1 kg of hydrogen, but only 25–28 kWh is actually stored as hydrogen. The remaining 22–25 kWh is dissipated as heat in the water and equipment.
Useless oxygen: for this kg of hydrogen, we produce about 8 kg of oxygen, which is of absolutely no use, but cost electricity to produce.
Pitiful final yield: less than 40% of the electricity injected is recovered in the form of usable energy.
And all this wasted electricity comes mainly from coal, gas, oil or nuclear power plants, with a colossal carbon and environmental impact.
Wind turbines and solar panels (ridiculous), their very existence is more pollution, totally ineffective despite ecological propaganda.
3. Compression and storage at 700 bars: the energy massacre
Hydrogen, due to its volatility, cannot be stored at ambient pressure. It must therefore be stored at high pressure.
To fit in a car tank, it must be compressed to 700 bars, which consumes around 10–15% of the energy contained in hydrogen.
Bottom line: for 100 kWh of initial electricity, you get barely 20–25 kWh usable to power the car.
More than 75% of electricity disappears into the void, wasted in thermal losses, compression and the production of unnecessary gas.
4. The crazy ecological obsession
The most incredible thing about this madness is that we talk about ecology as if it were a religious dogma.
We are building gigantic infrastructures to transport hydrogen, we are wasting tens of kWh of electricity for each kilo produced, we are burning gas and oil...
All this to pass off a few water molecules in the exhaust as clean.
Politicians and industrialists congratulate each other while the planet drinks.
It's a madman's ecology, a masquerade where the symbol of cleanliness takes precedence over reality.
Every kilo of hydrogen produced is a monument to waste.
5. Conclusion: the catastrophic mirage and the delirium of the mystical ecologists
Hydrogen for cars, whether burned in a combustion engine or used in a fuel cell, remains an energy mirage:
Energy-intensive and polluting production: 10–12 kWh of fossil fuels or 50 kWh of electricity for 1 kg of hydrogen, with less than 25 kWh actually usable,
Expensive compression and storage: 10–15% of energy lost
Ridiculous final yield: only 20–25% of the initial energy
And all this with the beatific smile of the defenders of a mystical, uneducated and dogmatic ecology, convinced that by brandishing green symbols, we can erase the laws of physics.
In short: automotive hydrogen is the perfect showcase for the industrial and ecological madness of our time, a mystical delirium where ideology supplants reason, and where the planet pays the bill for the beliefs of crazy ecologists. Each kilo produced is a slap in the face to physics, logic, and energy and human intelligence. |

ELECTRIC CARS WHICH MODEL TO CHOOSE ? | We are constantly told that the electric car is a revolution. Really ?
The first one ran in 1820 … with disposable batteries. By 1935 , people were already driving with lead-acid batteries.
The internal combustion engine, on the other hand, only arrived in 1876. So, no, it's not a new thing.
More like an old idea repainted in green!
Physics does not negotiate In 1835 , to store the energy equivalent of one liter of gasoline (0.74 kg), 100 kg of batteries were needed. In 2025 , after two centuries of research, we have come back down to… 46 kg . Bravo!
We've halved it, but it's still 62 times heavier than a liter of gasoline.
And since physics is stubborn, it's not an oil conspiracy:
It's just that no known material on Earth will do anything better in a revolutionary way.
Result ?
Heavy cars, very heavy.
The more they weigh, the more they consume.
But "it's ecological," apparently. Autonomy and recharge: David versus Goliath
Thermal : 70 liters of gasoline, 51.8 kg → 1162 km of autonomy , full tank done in 4 minutes (time to buy a sandwich).
Electric : 550 km realistic (in summer, without air conditioning, without headlights, on flat terrain) → recharge between 45 minutes and 1h30 with a fast terminal (rare and expensive)… which, icing on the cake, damages the battery !
In short: the electric car does not offer an exhaust pipe, but a cinema ticket with each recharge .
Lifespan and cost: the hefty bill
A lithium battery has a lifespan of 8 to 12 years .With intensive use (fast recharges), expect around 8 years .
Replacing it? €20,000 . In short: just as you start to amortize your purchase, the battery dies.
Electric batteries: the bomb under the hood
Electric cars are powered by powerful… and explosive… lithium-ion batteries.
Each pack contains a built-in power management system (BMS) , which is supposed to monitor voltage, current and temperature.
But if just one of its little guardians fails... everything can go up in smoke .
A shock, a short circuit, an overload... and the battery goes into thermal runaway : extreme heat, intense fire, toxic fumes.
What if only one BMS stops responding ?
Guaranteed explosion!
Yes, a real bomb under your feet. Brilliant, right ?
Recharge ?
Same danger.
A faulty terminal or poorly managed fast charging can trigger disaster. And with age, the internal chemistry deteriorates: the battery becomes a ticking time bomb.
In short: batteries are reliable as long as the internal electronics are working. BMS failure or physical shock?
You go from “eco-friendly” to “pyre” in seconds.
Ah ah ah! Not bad !!
The impossible economic equation
D-segment thermal sedan: €28,000 . D-segment electric sedan: €42,000 .
Yes, electricity is cheaper than gasoline.
But with an average of 12,000 km/year , it takes 12 to 14 years to compensate for the difference… exactly the lifespan of a battery.
In short: either you save a little, or you buy a battery for €20,000.
Either way, guess who wins? Not you!
Ecology: the great illusion
The remote exhaust pipe
The electric car doesn't emit anything locally. But electricity is produced somewhere. In France, which is still "clean" thanks to nuclear power, it's OK.
But in Germany, the European champion, it's coal, gas and fuel oil .
Result ?
You drive "zero emissions" with an exhaust pipe... in Poland.
The energy wall To electrify the European fleet (270 million vehicles in 2040), 229 new power plants would need to be built
- 37 nuclear
- 49 on fuel oil
- 109 gas
- 34 coal
Cost: 600 billion euros . Timeframe: 20 to 25 years .
Condition: find qualified personnel, locations and financing.
In other words: we should start… yesterday ! Recycling: the coming nightmare By 2048, there could be 405 million used batteries to recycle. The problem is that recyclers and scientists themselves admit that complete recycling is unfeasible .
So what do we do ?
We pray for a technological miracle. In other words: faith-based ecology.
Physical limits: physics again
Lithium-ion, lithium-iron, polymer, carbon… Whatever the recipe, batteries are already reaching the energy density ceiling .
The simple conclusion: there will be no major technological leap. Future gains will be marginal.
Translation: The promise of lightweight, cheap, durable, and recyclable batteries is a fairy tale.
Renewable alternatives: a tale with a bad ending
- Solar : works very well… during the day. And in good weather. Otherwise, a battery is required (and heavy).
- Hydrogen : clean to exhaust, but very energy-intensive and dangerous to produce.
- Wind : works when there is wind, but not too much. Otherwise, the same.
In short: nothing alone can power a massive vehicle fleet.
In Conclusion, an Unvarnished Verdict
The current electric car is not a solution, but an expensive mirage: heavy, expensive, difficult to recycle and dependent on out-of-scale energy infrastructure.
But don't get me wrong: I'm not against electric per se. What's insane is the current model:
heavy cars, monstrous batteries, ridiculous ecological promises!
So, which electric car should you choose today ? None !!
If you want a real revolution, you would need:
An ultra-light car,
And a reasonable mass.
A small nuclear battery that keeps you going for 70 years without ever opening your wallet.
Like a submarine on wheels: 12,000 km per year, for 70 years, without spending a cent... except for tires, brakes and a little maintenance.
What's wrong, aren't you crazy ?
So think: "no electricity to buy, no gasoline or diesel, you want to ruin the States, tax, tax, money, spit, spit, otherwise watch out! Do you understand? No way!!!"
Okay ! Okay !! I didn't say anything !!!
Finally I'll shut up... for now !
But remember: buying an electric car is like playing Russian roulette with your bank account.
And guess what ? The bullets are real !!...
The State is holding the drum for him!
Wanting to be “green” with the current system is like praying under an active volcano… you will end up carbonized, and the taxman will collect the ashes. |

RETURN TO THE GATHERING OF VINTAGE VEHICLESIN SATHONAY-VILLAGE AN UNMISSABLE EVENT |
|
There are events that, without fanfare or media hype, manage to bring together enthusiasts with such authenticity and fervor that they become benchmarks. The Sathonay-Camp vintage vehicle rally in the Lyon region is one of these.
Year after year, it has built a solid reputation, not only for the quality of the vehicles on display, but also and above all for the unique atmosphere it exudes. This edition was more than a success: it was a true triumph. A quality event, in every sense of the word The first thing that strikes you is the overall quality of the event. Starting with its organization, which is precise and seamless, despite relying solely on a team of passionate volunteers. Their dedication, their smiles, and their availability give a rare human dimension to an event of this magnitude. This isn't just a static exhibition of vintage cars: it's a truly popular and intergenerational celebration, orchestrated with passion.
Visitors are welcomed in an atmosphere that is both relaxed and joyful, with that little extra touch of soul that makes all the difference: you feel like a guest here, not just a spectator.
Volunteers spare no effort in their time or energy, and this is evident in every detail, from signage to entertainment, site cleanliness, and traffic flow. One might think a professional events agency is behind this well-oiled operation; however, this is not the case. It's a victory of passion over resources.
Magnificent cars in impressive numbers
What's also striking is the richness of the automotive selection. The vintage vehicles on display are not only numerous, but also of exceptional quality.
From small, popular vehicles to rare sports cars, including vintage utility vehicles, elegant coupes, classic motorcycles and even some historic agricultural machinery: the diversity is such that every enthusiast will find what they are looking for.
The selection, if we can call it that, because any vintage vehicle is welcome, is impressive in its consistency and balance. We're not talking about a few cars hastily lined up in a parking lot: we're witnessing a true living presentation of automotive history, with pampered vehicles, lovingly restored, often accompanied by explanatory panels or period objects to further enrich the experience. There are iconic models, but also rare gems. From the Peugeot 403 convertible, to a DS 21 Pallas, an R8 Gordini, to gleaming American cars from the 1950s, the journey through time is constant. The sound of the engines, the smell of old fuel, the patina of the bodywork each tell their own story, and what a wealth of stories these cars, full of memories and emotions, hold ! A warm and passionate audience
But a car rally isn't just about cars. It's also—and perhaps above all—the men and women, the enthusiasts who bring these frozen mechanics to life. And at Sathonay, you can feel at every moment that people are at the heart of the event.
Visitors came in large numbers, in fact, very many, undoubtedly breaking attendance records from previous years. But the atmosphere never became tense or overcrowded: everyone found their place, interacted, and discussed with simplicity and enthusiasm. Smiles were everywhere, and there reigned an almost familial atmosphere, where the oldest recounted their memories, and where the youngest discovered, with wide eyes, wonders from another time. A simple glance was enough to start a discussion. Conversations would spring up spontaneously: “Hey, my grandfather had the same one,” “Look, it’s a Simca 1000, I had one to go to work!”, or even “Did you know that this BX took part in a Paris-Dakar?”...
The dialogue between generations was ongoing. This link between past and present, this transmission of a living memory, undoubtedly constitutes the greatest success of the event
The Citroën BX, star of the day
Each edition showcases a particular model or brand, and this year, the Citroën BX took center stage. A bold choice, perhaps surprising to some, but oh so wise. The BX, long considered a "run-of-the-mill" car from the 80s and 90s, is now experiencing a true renaissance in the hearts of collectors..
And seeing the BX models on display, and even the perfectly preserved estate and diesel versions, it's easy to see why. This car, at once innovative, atypical, and avant-garde, perfectly embodies the Citroën spirit of this era. Its Bertone design, hydropneumatic suspension, unparalleled comfort, and lightness make it a sought-after and beloved piece today. The gathering has helped rehabilitate this model in the eyes of the general public and give it the tribute it deserves.
The BX owners present at Sathonay were justifiably proud to showcase their model, often adorned with period documents, original accessories, or even matching outfits. Some had come from far away, sometimes several hundred kilometers, to participate in this tribute. And the public responded in force: people lingered, asked questions, listened to anecdotes, and reminisced about personal memories. The BX was the star, undisputed and respected. An inimitable atmosphere
But what really sets Sathonay apart from other similar events is the atmosphere. This isn't just a classic car rally; it's a lively, joyful, animated, and welcoming celebration. There was music, stalls selling local produce, refreshment stands where you could enjoy a drink with friends, areas for children, and even mechanical demonstrations. All in a pleasant, green setting, perfectly suited to this type of event.
Friendliness was everywhere: we shared a coffee with a stranger who had become friends while talking about a Traction, we exchanged restaurant tips, we laughed around a recalcitrant engine, we greeted each other as if we had known each other forever. This friendly, familial atmosphere is undoubtedly what leaves the most impression once the event is over. It makes you want to come back, to get involved, to be part of this wonderful human adventure.
Sathonay: one of the best gatherings in France ? Yes, definitely.
We cannot conclude without mentioning this phrase heard more than once in the aisles: “Frankly, after having toured France's rallies, Sathonay is at the top, perhaps even the best.” This is not to denigrate other events, far from it – France is full of quality automobile meetings, supported by equally committed enthusiasts.
But Sathonay possesses an extra soul, an authenticity, a joyful simplicity that deeply touches. There's a rare balance here between logistical excellence, automotive wealth, human warmth, and shared pleasure. And few events can boast this.
A fever for the old that does not weaken
This gathering also reflects a broader phenomenon: the growing passion for vintage vehicles. In an increasingly digitalized, increasingly standardized world, the charm of vintage vehicles is increasingly appealing. They are witnesses to our industrial, social, and aesthetic history. Each vintage car tells the story of an era, a way of living, traveling, and consuming. And it is this collective narrative that we celebrate through these gatherings.
In Sathonay, this passion is everywhere. It's displayed on gleaming car bodies, it's heard in conversations, it's read in the eyes of children and elders alike. It spans generations, social backgrounds, and geographical horizons. It's a transversal, vibrant, and popular passion. And that's perhaps its greatest strength. An unmissable event
In short, the Sathonay Classic Vehicle Gathering is much more than just an automotive event: it's a human experience, a return to one's roots, a celebration of automotive heritage in its noblest form. It's open to everyone, whether connoisseurs or curious, nostalgic or novice. It offers an enchanting interlude, filled with encounters, smiles, memories, and passion.
So, if you've never been, make a note of the date of the next edition, it's the first Sunday of every month. Easy !!
And if you were there this year, there's no doubt you'll be there next year. Because Sathonay isn't just a place: it's a state of mind. |

YOUNGTIMERS AND JAPANESE CARS: A FAST-GROWING AREA
Youngtimers, cars from the 1980s to 2000s, have occupied an increasingly important place in the show, responding to the growing interest of collectors for these recent vehicles.
The dedicated space showcased iconic models such as the Peugeot 205 GTI, Renault 5 Turbo, and Japanese treasures such as the Nissan Skyline, Toyota Century and the gullwing Autozam AZ-1. This diverse selection allowed visitors to relive the golden era of automotive performance and innovation.
COMPETITION: A DIVE INTO THE ADRENALINE OF RACING OF YESTERYEAR
The competition area was once again a major attraction, with stages dedicated to rallies, Formula 3, and Elf racing cars.
The Autodiva stand celebrated the 60th anniversary of Formula 3, while Citroën presented iconic rally cars from the Guy Fréquelin era, offering a spectacular glimpse of the vehicles that dominated legendary events such as the Dakar.
THE FAMOUS EUREXPO DOME: A TRIBUTE TO THE FORD MUSTANG
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, the Eurexpo Dome welcomed eight models, including the legendary Mustang from the film Bullitt with Steve McQueen.
This nod to American heritage has won over muscle car enthusiasts, attracting crowds of visitors who come to admire these symbols of American automotive culture.
A MUST-HAVE FIGURE AT THE SHOW MR. FABRICE FOLIS’ STAND: A TREASURE OF MOTORCYCLE HERITAGE
Among the many attractions of this 45th edition of Epoqu'Auto, the stand of Mr. Fabrice Folis was particularly noted. A great collector and fervent curator of automobile and motorcycle heritage,
Fabrice Folis offered visitors a fascinating dive into the history of two-wheelers. His richly stocked stand highlighted an impressive collection of vintage motorcycles, testimonies of technological evolution and motorcycle design through the decades.
Son of a Lyon family famous for its contribution to the world of cycles and motorcycles, Fabrice Folis has been able to perpetuate this passion by gathering rare and iconic pieces, often unknown to the general public. Among the jewels on display, one could admire carefully restored vintage models, reflecting the diversity and innovation of the motorcycle industry since the beginning of the 20th century.
The stand also featured iconic models from European brands, with a particular focus on French, Italian and English motorcycles, recalling the golden age of road racing and major rallies of the time.
Visitors were able to discover motorcycles that have marked the history of two-wheelers, with explanations provided by Fabrice Folis himself, always ready to share his knowledge and anecdotes about these exceptional machines.
In addition to his passion for motorcycle conservation, Fabrice Folis stressed the importance of preserving mechanical history by exhibiting rare documents, period accessories and unique pieces, a true heritage of motorcycle culture.
His dedication to preserving this heritage was widely praised by visitors, who were able to appreciate the extent of his work to save and restore historic motorcycles, sometimes threatened with extinction.
Note: For your information, Fabrice Folis celebrated his birthday this Sunday. Happy Birthday Fabrice!
Spare Parts Dealers: An Essential Pillar of Epoqu'Auto
One of the essential aspects of Epoqu'Auto, and which contributes greatly to its reputation, is the presence of a vast selection of spare parts dealers.
For many classic car enthusiasts, these stands represent a veritable treasure trove, full of treasures essential for the restoration and maintenance of their collector's vehicles.
In 2024, this section of the show was particularly impressive, with an unprecedented diversity and richness of offerings.
A diversified and specialized offer
The dealers at Epoqu'Auto offered a comprehensive range of spare parts, from bodywork elements such as chrome bumpers and mirrors to essential mechanical components such as engines, carburetors, gearboxes and braking systems.
In addition, there were wear parts, often difficult to find for rare or old models: spark plugs, seals, oil and air filters, brake pads, and even specific tires.
Some stands specialised in particular brands or eras, offering visitors parts for specific models such as the Citroën DS, the Renault 4CV, or even American classics such as the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette.
Other exhibitors were dedicated to youngtimers, responding to the growing demand for vehicle parts from the 1980s to the 2000s, with references for the Peugeot 205 GTI, the Volkswagen Golf GTI and the BMW 3 Series E30, very popular with young collectors.
Expert advice and unrivaled expertise
One of the great assets of these dealers is their in-depth knowledge of vehicles and their passion for vintage cars. Unlike a simple online store, these exhibitors offer a unique experience of direct exchange with experts, able to provide personalized advice on the best restoration practices.
Whether it's a complex technical question about adjusting a Weber carburetor, recommendations on choosing a specific engine oil for a 1970s racing car, or tips for fitting original parts, exhibitors are happy to share their expertise with visitors.
Many parts dealers are also seasoned restorers and collectors themselves, giving them an understanding of the challenges faced by classic vehicle enthusiasts.
Their experience and recommendations are often invaluable in guiding collectors in their restoration projects, particularly in avoiding common mistakes or choosing the parts best suited to the specific features of the vehicles.
The quest for rare and unfindable pieces
Epoqu'Auto is also known for being the meeting place for treasure hunters looking for rare and hard-to-find parts.
Indeed, many exhibitors bring with them exceptionally rare period pieces, sometimes from old stocks or vehicles recovered and dismantled for parts. It is not uncommon to see visitors leave with pieces that cannot be found elsewhere, such as original headlights, old dashboard gauges, or even specific decorative elements.
This year, enthusiasts had the chance to discover emblematic pieces, such as vintage Solex carburetors, wooden dashboards for Jaguars from the 1960s, or Bakelite steering wheels from Alfa Romeo.
Booths also featured faithful reproductions of period parts, allowing collectors to recreate the original appearance and performance of their vehicles, even when the original parts are no longer available.
A space for meetings and exchanges between enthusiasts
Beyond the sale of parts, this area of the show is a real place for exchange between enthusiasts. Visitors share their restoration experiences, their tips and their good deals for finding specific parts.
For many, the stands of the spare parts dealers are an opportunity to meet other enthusiasts of vintage vehicles, to build relationships, and to benefit from a network of enthusiasts ready to exchange and help each other.
Some vendors even held demonstrations and workshops at their booths, allowing visitors to learn specific restoration or maintenance techniques.
Chrome polishing workshops, wheel bearing assembly and ignition adjustment demonstrations punctuated the 2024 edition, providing an educational dimension to this section of the show.
An essential contribution to the spirit of Epoqu'Auto
Spare parts dealers play a fundamental role in the unique atmosphere of Epoqu'Auto. They are not only there to sell, but also fully participate in the spirit of conviviality and sharing that characterizes this event. Their presence allows visitors to continue to maintain and restore their vintage vehicles, thus contributing to the preservation of automotive heritage.
In conclusion, the stands of the spare parts dealers at Epoqu'Auto are much more than just a market: they are the beating heart of the show, a space where you can find the common passion for vintage cars, share knowledge and stock up on parts to keep these mechanical gems alive.
Their contribution is essential to the spirit and success of Epoqu'Auto, making this show an unmissable event for all lovers of classic vehicles.
THE RENAULT STAND: A FUSION BETWEEN TRADITION AND MODERNITY
The Renault stand, with its 15 historic cars, caused a sensation, particularly with the presentation of the 1967 Renault 4 Parisienne and the "Suite n°4" showcar.
Visitors were also able to discover the new Renault 5 E-Tech Electric alongside retro models such as the Renault 5 Turbo Coupe d'Europe and the Supercinq GT Turbo.
This mix of old and new highlighted Renault's evolution, celebrating both its past and its commitment to the future.
TRIOMPHALE: EPOQU'AUTO CONSECRATED AS A REFERENCE SHOW
The 2024 edition of Epoqu'Auto has managed to maintain its authenticity while opening up to an increasingly wide audience. Supported by the Club des 3A (Amateurs d'Automobiles Anciennes) , this show benefits from meticulous organization orchestrated by a formidable team of volunteers.
Their commitment and passion were evident in every aspect of the event, creating a unique and friendly atmosphere where every visitor, whether new to the event or a seasoned collector, was able to share their love for vintage vehicles.

COLLECTOR CAR GATHERING
IN SATHONAY-VILLAGE FRANCE
A PRICELESS AUTOMOBILE HERITAGE | The Sathonay-Village classic car gathering , this little gem located at the gates of Lyon in France, is much more than just a meeting place for lovers of beautiful mechanics.
It is a true institution, an event that brings together enthusiasts from all four corners of the region every month, determined to preserve and celebrate an essential part of our industrial and cultural heritage.
Organized every first Sunday of the month, this gathering is a great mass dedicated to vintage automobiles, where passion and nostalgia mingle in a friendly and good-natured atmosphere.
A living heritage at the heart of history
These collector cars, true treasures on wheels, embody much more than simple objects of pleasure for their owners. They represent a tangible link with the past, a time when the automobile was synonymous with progress, freedom and innovation.
Each restored vehicle, each carefully maintained part, is the fruit of an immeasurable love for the history of mechanics, but also of know-how that is passed down from generation to generation.
These cars are witnesses to a bygone era, but one that is still very much alive in the hearts of those who drive them, despite the challenges that their maintenance represents.
Restoring, maintaining, and preserving these vehicles is a real challenge. Spare parts are becoming rare, the skills specific to these old models are diminishing, and regulatory constraints are becoming stricter.
However, the flame of the enthusiasts remains intact. Their commitment goes well beyond the simple conservation of objects.
In reality, they protect an industrial, human and societal heritage that tells the story of our country. A heritage that reflects the evolution of our lifestyles, our technologies, and even our dreams of yesterday.
A gathering in an exceptional setting
The idyllic setting of the Sathonay-Village town hall park provides the perfect backdrop for this extraordinary event. Visitors, whether novices or seasoned connoisseurs, stroll among models that have marked the history of the automobile, some dating back several decades.
The inhabitants of Sathonay can be proud to welcome this living treasure of their local heritage every month.
Thanks to this initiative, the village stands out not only as a place of conviviality, but also as a guardian of industrial memory, reminding each of us of the importance of never turning our backs on our past.
The atmosphere is unique, full of complicity and shared passion. Far from the big, ultra-commercial car shows, here, we find a spirit of camaraderie and solidarity.
The exchanges take place naturally, between enthusiasts and the curious, in a warm atmosphere where each car tells a story.
The defense of automotive heritage: a necessity in the face of criticism
However, this event, like many others in the world of classic cars, must now face a certain number of criticisms. Some groups, often linked to radical environmental movements, try to discredit the very existence of these gatherings and of classic cars.
They wrongly accuse them of being sources of pollution, of embodying a past that we should leave behind, and even of contributing to anachronistic behavior in a world that should, according to them, completely ban the use of combustion engine vehicles.
But these criticisms are not only unfair, they are also ill-informed. Collector cars, by definition, are driven very little. They only travel a few hundred kilometers per year, at events or occasional outings.
Their environmental impact is negligible compared to the millions of modern cars in daily circulation.
It is therefore wrong to consider them as notorious polluters.
Their existence is in no way incompatible with the ecological transition.
On the contrary, these cars, carefully restored and preserved, are symbols of sustainability, in a world where overconsumption and planned obsolescence dominate. Rather than being thrown away, they are repaired and preserved, thus perpetuating a tradition of care and respect for the manufactured object.
Protecting history from oblivion
What is really at stake here is the preservation of a heritage that goes far beyond the simple question of pollution. Collector cars are objects of art, pieces of history that allow us to understand the evolution of society, industry and culture.
They bear witness to a time when the automobile was a dream of the future, a promise of progress. Destroying or banning them, as some wish, would amount to erasing a part of our past.
And as the saying goes, how can we know where we are going if we forget where we came from?
This is why the Sathonay-Village gathering and other similar events are essential. They remind everyone of the importance of preserving this heritage, of passing on to future generations this passion for automotive history and of fighting against oblivion.
Vintage cars are not relics of a bygone era, but living witnesses of our collective history, objects of memory which, although turned towards the past, also speak to us of our future.
Many thanks to the organizers and clubs
Of course, this tribute would not be complete without warmly greeting those who are at the origin of this event.
The clubs in the region, the volunteers, and the organizers put in a lot of work to make this event a success every month. Their efficiency, their commitment, and their sense of organization deserve to be recognized.
Without them, this gathering could not exist. Thanks to their passion and know-how, Sathonay-Village has established itself as an essential place for vintage car enthusiasts.
Congratulations to all those behind the scenes actors who allow this treasure to continue to shine, month after month, despite the challenges and criticism. Their work, often invisible, is the pillar of the success of this event, and their passion makes all the difference.
An invitation to all
So, whether you are passionate about vintage cars or simply curious, the Sathonay-Village gathering welcomes you. Come and discover these mechanical marvels, share a moment of history and conviviality, and support the defense of a precious heritage.
This event is well worth the detour, and it is living proof that we can love the past while respecting the future. Come in large numbers, without moderation, for a unique moment in an exceptional setting ! |

THE USA THE OTHER COUNTRY OF THE AUTOMOBILE
OF EXCELLENCE
|
|

The automobile is much more than just a means of transportation in the United States; it is a true national passion that dates back to the dawn of the automobile era. While Europe, and particularly France, is known for its passion for classic cars, the United States has always remained the other great automobile country.
If we go back to the early days of the automobile, it was certainly Cugnot's cart that marked the beginning of this technological revolution, but it was across the Atlantic that the automobile really found its momentum thanks to Henry Ford and his legendary Ford T.
The Henry Ford era and the Ford Model T
Henry Ford's major innovation was not just the creation of a car, but the establishment of the first true production line.
The Model T Ford thus became the first car to be mass-produced on an assembly line, a concept that would revolutionize the automobile industry for decades to come.
Even today, although production methods have become more modern and robotized, the basic idea remains the same: to mass-produce cars efficiently and economically.
Car Rallies in the USA
The United States has also been at the forefront when it comes to car rallies. These events are a veritable institution, bringing together enthusiasts from all over the country to celebrate their love of cars.

Grand National Roadster Show, Pomona, California
The Grand National Roadster Show, held annually in Pomona, California, is one of the most prestigious events of its kind.
It attracts thousands of classic car, hot rod and street rod enthusiasts from all over the world. It is an opportunity to discover some of the most beautiful and rare collector cars, but also to meet manufacturers and artists specializing in car customization.
American Graffiti Parade Weekend Car Show, Modesto, California
Another major event is the American Graffiti Parade Weekend Car Show, which takes place in Modesto, California.
The event pays tribute to George Lucas' cult film "American Graffiti," which helped popularize car culture in the 1950s and 1960s.
Thousands of classic cars, hot rods and muscle cars are on display every year, attracting enthusiasts from all over the world.
Detroit Autorama, Michigan
The Detroit Autorama is another must-see event for car enthusiasts.
Held annually in Detroit, Michigan, it is one of the largest auto shows in the country. Visitors can admire the latest trends in custom cars, as well as spectacular prototypes and concept cars.
It is also an opportunity to meet renowned manufacturers and designers, and to attend live tuning and customization demonstrations.
Scottsdale, Arizona
Finally, the city of Scottsdale, Arizona, is also a hotbed of car culture in the United States. Each year, it hosts several major events, including the famous Barrett-Jackson and RM Sotheby's collector car auctions.
These auctions attract collectors from all over the world, who come to acquire the rarest and most prestigious cars.
In conclusion , while Europe can boast a long tradition in terms of collector cars, the United States remains incontestably the other great country of the automobile, with a rich and diverse history, marked by innovation, creativity and passion for the automobile in all its forms. Whether through events like the Grand National Roadster Show, the American Graffiti Parade Weekend Car Show, the Detroit Autorama or the Scottsdale auctions, American automobile culture is more alive than ever, and continues to fascinate enthusiasts around the world. |

VIEW AT EPOQUAUTO 2023
THE EPOPE OF FASTO A2 A RESURRECTED TREASURE | Let 's dive into the heart of the prestigious Lyon Epoquauto 2023 show, where a real automotive gem captivated collector car enthusiasts: the FASTO A2.
This old car, enigmatic and little known to the general public, stands out as the only example still existing to our knowledge, a rare testimony to a bygone era.
The FASTO A2, produced in the Saint-Éloy-les-Mines and Saint-Ouen workshops between 1926 and 1929, embodies the creative spirit of the interwar period.
This period, marked by the ephemeral emergence of numerous automobile brands, saw the FASTO shine both on the circuits and on the commercial market.
The FASTO adventure began in 1924 in Saint-Éloy-les-Mines, with the production of the first automobiles in 1926.
Going against the trends of the time, the decision was made to build the car in its entirety, including the engine.
The first models were created under the aegis of the Odoire et Cie establishments in Sainte-Éloy, before being assembled in Saint-Ouen from the end of 1926.
The FASTO A2, the prototype succeeding the A1, stands out for its closed design and its 1,600 cc, 4-cylinder engine, developing 25 horsepower.
The C1 model chassis was briefly presented at the Paris Auto Show in 1926, but remained unsuccessful.
The following year, the A3 debuted with a new 1,600 cc overhead cam engine, boosting power to 35 horsepower.
That same year, three A3 S models equipped with 2-liter engines were prepared for the 24 hours of Le Mans, offering FASTO a prestigious showcase despite mechanical setbacks on the track.
In 1927, the A4 joined the catalog, unveiling a less efficient version of the A3. Unfortunately, the FASTO adventure came to a premature end in 1928/1929, at the dawn of the Great Depression, putting an end to a promising but short-lived automobile epic.
Nearly a century later, the Associative Group of Technical Heritage Collectors (GACPT) took the initiative to revive the FASTO A2.
Under the direction of Lionel Duperray of Éditions Vals d'Allier, a committed publishing house, a work has seen the light of day.
The profits from its sale are entirely dedicated to the restoration project of the last known example of the FASTO A2, today in the hands of the GACPT.
The history of FASTO, recounted in this work prefaced by Franck Mesnel, former rugby player for the French team and co-founder of the Eden Park brand, takes on a new dimension. Franck Mesnel, grandson of Pierre Mesnel, the driver of Fasto number 8 during the 1927 24 hours of Le Mans, brings a personal touch to this forgotten saga.
Today, FASTO cars are almost impossible to find, having fallen into obscurity even at vintage vehicle gatherings.
However, destiny decided otherwise, and it is in the suburbs of Lyon that an A2 model resurfaces, testimony to a bygone era.
Used as a family car until the mid-1950s, it then sank into oblivion, spending many years in a damp underground garage, leaving its state of conservation in poor condition.
Faced with a probable destiny towards scrap metal, the GACPT, based in Givors, manages to divert FASTO from its final journey, making the association the guardian of the last known example among the 15 produced.
Thus, the GACPT is embarking on an ambitious project: the complete restoration of the FASTO A2.
This arduous task, equivalent to a real reconstruction, involves in-depth technical investigations with a view to remanufacturing the missing parts.
The estimated cost of the work is 180,000 euros.
Raising the necessary funds becomes imperative, and this is where a committed publisher comes in, proposing the creation of a book dedicated to this exceptional car.
The royalties generated by the sale of this book will be entirely donated to the association.
In addition, for generous donors wishing to contribute to saving this unique automobile heritage, the Heritage Foundation automatically provides tax credits.
The commitment to the FASTO A2 does not go unnoticed, and the Motul Foundation, famous oil manufacturer, is already supporting the project with a generous grant of 10,000 euros.
However, the call for mobilization does not stop there.
Automotive history enthusiasts, heritage defenders and all those who wish to participate in this adventure are invited to join this preservation process.
At the heart of this epic, the GACPT, with its address at 2348 route de Mornant, 69700 Givors, embodies the spirit of preserving technical heritage.
Likewise, Éditions Vals d'Allier, located at 31 rue du Docteur Dumas, 63300 Thiers, stands out for its contribution to the dissemination of historical and heritage knowledge.
The FASTO A2, a poignant testimony to a bygone era, is reborn thanks to the collective effort and commitment of enthusiasts.
The restoration of this unique piece promises to be a captivating odyssey, where the history of the FASTO will regain its splendor and its place in the rich panorama of French collector's automobiles.
By contributing to this noble cause, each participant becomes a link in a chain aimed at preserving automotive heritage for future generations. Let's raise our eyes to the FASTO A2, silent witness to a bygone era, and engage in this quest to bring it back to life. |

COME BACK TO THE SHOW
EPOQUAUTO |
EpoquAuto is an exciting and unforgettable odyssey to the heart of ancient automobile passion in Lyon, a large city in France, capital of Gaul, and which is also the world capital of gastronomy.
The 2023 edition of EpoquAuto took place from November 10 to 12 in Lyon, transforming the vast halls of Eurexpo into a true sanctuary dedicated to lovers of vintage cars.
Organized by a club of enthusiasts, the event mobilized no less than 250 passionate volunteers, bringing this unique show to life.
Proudly occupying 5 halls as well as the central square of Eurexpo, EpoquAuto 2023 welcomed 849 exhibitors, including 528 dedicated to spare parts and old documents, as well as specialized craftsmen.
What makes EpoquAuto so special is its status as the only show of this scale organized by a club of vintage car enthusiasts.
Unlike major international shows such as Essen, Maastricht, Brussels or Paris-Rétromobile, EpoquAuto has managed to maintain the authentic character of a stock exchange, contrasting with the global trend where collector vehicle dealers and service providers are taking center stage.
Lyon has managed to preserve this essence by highlighting the passion shared by fans. Where other events gradually shift towards intensive commercialization, EpoquAuto remains faithful to the spirit of exchange, highlighting the diversity of regional clubs and brands.
This approach gives the show a unique atmosphere, truly designed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, a strong point that is felt in every corner of the exhibition halls.
One of the striking characteristics of EpoquAuto is the central place given to regional and brand clubs. This creates a friendly and authentic atmosphere, where enthusiasts can share their experiences and exchange anecdotes with other enthusiasts. This symbiosis between clubs, exhibitors, and visitors makes EpoquAuto much more than just a show; it is a meeting place, a celebration of the shared love for vintage automobiles.
This year, EpoquAuto highlighted three emblematic brands: Peugeot, Talbot, and Cadillac, one of which belonged to the legend Johnny Hallyday. This eclectic selection allowed visitors to discover or rediscover a multitude of emblematic models, illustrating the diversity of automotive history.
Between popular brands still in operation, prestigious brands that have now disappeared, and giants of the American automobile industry, visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a true automobile retrospective.
The show also highlighted several themes, ranging from rallying to hill climbs, including youngtimers (collector cars from the 80s/90s) and utility vehicles, including imposing coaches and the emblematic Berliet manufactured In Lyon.
This thematic diversity helped enrich the visitor experience, offering a variety of exhibitions and demonstrations that captivated the attention of enthusiasts.
The aisles of EpoquAuto were lively with the presence of enthusiast clubs, car dealers, private car sales areas, and areas dedicated to vehicles up for auction.
Visitors were able to admire an impressive range of models, from popular cars to luxury ones, allowing everyone to find what they were looking for, whether for purchase or simple contemplation.
The range of activities offered to visitors was as vast as the diversity of vehicles on display.
Between the acquisition of an old one, the contemplative strolls, the activities such as the record dismantling of a Citroën 2CV, and the conferences organized by the French Federation of Vintage Vehicles, everyone could find what they were looking for.
The clubs, present in large numbers, were available to answer visitors' questions, displaying a smile and patience which underline the passion which drives them.
The 3A association (Classic Automobile Lovers), in charge of organizing EpoquAuto, deserves a special mention. The professionalism and dedication of the 3A were remarkable, ensuring the smooth running of the event despite the crowds from the moment the doors opened. The 250 volunteers formed an exceptional team, effectively managing the busy crowds from 9 a.m. on Friday, coordinating access to the parking lots, and ensuring that each visitor could fully enjoy the EpoquAuto experience.
On Friday, from 10 a.m., the aisles were already crowded, creating an electric atmosphere where business was brisk. The regulars met with enthusiasm, while the newcomers were amazed by the diversity of the exhibitions.
It is in these moments that the involvement of the 3A was most evident, offering visitors a smooth experience, in a warm and caring environment.
Each year, the 3A demonstrate their expertise by choosing themes that highlight specific brands, adding a thematic dimension to the show.
This year, the honor was given to Peugeot, Talbot and Cadillac, offering visitors an immersive dive into the history of these iconic brands. The 3A also ensures that the soul of the show is preserved by giving a significant place to clubs and individuals, and by creating a space where diversity reigns supreme. The icing on the cake was that we even had the chance to have a model (artist, actress, etc.) in a vintage costume in front of the beautiful Cadillacs, but we'll probably talk to you about her later.
The friendly atmosphere of EpoquAuto is also enhanced by the gastronomic tradition of the region.
Visitors, who come in vintage cars, also benefit from privileged treatment with the provision of free parking, adding a picturesque touch to the overall spectacle.
The 3As, with their keen sense of organization, manage to maintain a relaxed atmosphere despite the crowds, creating a harmonious balance between automotive passion and conviviality.
Beyond economic considerations, EpoquAuto offers a day of shared happiness.
The remarkable involvement of the 3A, the frequent reunions between enthusiasts, the quality and quantity of the exhibitors, as well as this unique atmosphere of popular celebration, make this show an event apart.
The experience goes beyond simply looking at vintage cars; it is part of a true immersion in automotive history, where each model tells a story, and each enthusiast shares their love for these vehicles full of memories.
The show is not only an exhibition space, it is also a large car flea market where visitors can find rare parts, unforgettable souvenirs, and exchange anecdotes with other enthusiasts. The clubs, at the heart of this ecosystem, are essential pillars, offering a space where camaraderie and exchange are in the spotlight.
It's a total immersion in automotive culture, where visitors can not only admire exceptional models, but also learn more about their history from the enthusiasts who proudly present them.
Gender diversity is the hallmark of EpoquAuto, making sure not to give in to elitism often seen elsewhere. The parts and automobile dealers' halls are a real treasure trove for enthusiasts, offering items at all prices.. Authenticity reigns, and each stand is an invitation to discovery, in search of the rare pearl that will complete the collection or that will evoke a precious memory.
However, in the midst of this passionate excitement, economic considerations emerge.
Prices appear to have increased since the previous year, raising questions about the reasons for this increase.
From simple keychains to catalogs and books, merchants, including individuals, have adjusted their prices, sometimes significantly.
Visitors, while understanding the economic realities, were able to see this evolution of prices, while expressing their passion through negotiations often marked by conviviality.
Despite this observation, the price of entry to the show remains affordable, which contrasts with other events of the same type.
With a price of €16 at the checkout, €14 online, €13 for students, and free for children under 12, EpoquAuto remains an event accessible to all vintage car lovers. This pricing policy reflects the organizers' intention to make the EpoquAuto experience accessible to as many people as possible, thus promoting the diversity of visitors.
Beyond the economic aspect, spending a day at EpoquAuto provides shared happiness. The 3A, through their commitment and passion, have succeeded in creating an event that goes well beyond a simple car show. It is an immersive experience, a dive into automotive history and culture, where every detail is carefully orchestrated to provide a memorable day for enthusiasts.
The spirit of EpoquAuto also lies in the generosity of the volunteers, who devote time and energy so that each visitor leaves with memories engraved in their memory. The 3A are the real heroes behind the scenes, orchestrating this event with remarkable precision and an obvious love for vintage automobiles. Their dedication deserves special recognition, because it is thanks to them that thousands of enthusiasts are able to experience this unique immersion in the world of vintage cars every year.
In conclusion, EpoquAuto 2023 was much more than just a car show.
It was an odyssey through time, a celebration of shared automotive passion, masterfully orchestrated by the 3A and their army of dedicated volunteers.
Varied exhibitions, warm encounters, passionate exchanges and a friendly atmosphere marked this edition, making it an unmissable event for all vintage car enthusiasts.
EpoquAuto is not only an annual meeting, it is an experience that leaves an indelible mark in the heart of each visitor, a memorable chapter in the rich history of automobile passion.
By its scale but also by its exceptional quality, EpoquAuto has undoubtedly become the first international show surpassing all others. |

TESLA ROADSTER RUBBED | It takes up the design of the previous one, with a more expressive grille and a slightly larger size than the old generation, based on the Lotus Elise.
Its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds!!!
A 200 kWh battery (twice as large as the largest electric vehicle battery) in a reduced body
"These claims go far beyond current EV industry standards, to the point that they would require advances in battery technology or a new understanding of how batteries are used," said Sam Jaffe, a battery specialist at Cairn Energy Research in Boulder, Colorado.
In some cases, experts even wonder whether Tesla is betting on technological advances appearing before new vehicles are delivered.
An update for the old generation
Owners of the 2008 Roadster will also be able to benefit from an increased range, now up to 550 km (compared to around 340 km), thanks to a new update costing $29,000, or around €26,077 .
According to Tesla, the cost of this development is justified by the very low volumes and by the fact that the procedure is carried out entirely by hand by the brand's technicians.
Basic features of the Roadster:
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h: 1.9 sec
Max speed: over 400 km/h
Wheel torque: 10,000 Nm Autonomy: 1,000 km
Seats: 4
Drive: 4-wheel drive
Base price: $170,000

SPECIAL PROJECTS OF UNIQUE FERRARI
AND EVEN SOME BEAUTIFUL
|
|
Did you know that anyone can order Ferrari a unique car ?
Finally, anyone with the means and his entrances to Ferrari.
Ferrari showed its latest custom Ferrari with its own model number: SP38.
The letters SP correspond to the initials of "Special projects", a division of Ferrari opened in 2007 and which is in its 38th delivery.
Ferrari offers this service to the ultra-rich, the 0.001% of the planet, usually people who have already bought cars to the arched stallion.
The Ferrari SP38 is based on the chassis and mechanics of the 488 GTB but small specificity: the designers have made a body that will allow its only owner to drive in his car.
For which client ?
We will only know-discretion oblige- that this customer, * is "deeply passionate about motor racing" .
The opposite would have surprised us!
This Ferrari carbon fiber is driven by a V8 double turbo of 3.9 L in rear central position generating 670 hp.
The SP38 is included in the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance, on the shores of Lake Como near Milan.

ELECTRIC CARS AND REVOLUTIONS
ACT I |
|
The upheaval in the automobile sector will be unprecedentedly radical, as fierce as the transition from the steam engine to the internal combustion engine, it is predicted. And not everyone will gain from the change !!!
When we think that only a few years ago we thought of oil-powered cars. But Dieselgate passed like a hurricane, razing our old certainties and the whole environment opened up other perspectives, including the most anticipated: the electric car.
The whole environment ?
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and clean the air locally ?
A name of “ecological car” which has already been controversial since its (re)birth....
A truism: the only truly ecological car is the one that doesn't exist !
But which capital has not announced with great fanfare its desire to ban thermal engines from cities:
Paris, Madrid, Oslo, Athens to achieve by 2030 more than 30% for the market share of hybrid or electric vehicles.
Economic revolution
Predictions to be taken seriously as the automotive industry is about to face a big bang!
In any case, it is a radical upheaval that is expected for both manufacturers and users.
When we know that from the first link, manufacturers will have to change their production chains and put billions of euros on the table even though there is uncertainty over the choice of investment:
100% electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid ?
No one knows yet.
Prudence requires at PSA we have chosen "a multi-energy platform strategy which allows industrial investments to be amortized" reveals Christian Chapelle, responsible for the development of traction chains for the PSA group.
The other manufacturers are following suit, except Renault and Tesla, but at what cost ?
The Renault-Nissan Alliance did not hesitate to invest 4 billion euros. But so many changes underway:
1° For engines, this activity employed 112,000 employees in 2015 spread across 126 factories in Europe.
“ If the market moves towards hybrid, it will be good news for automotive employment, because manufacturing this type of model requires 50% more time than for a thermal vehicle,” comments Laurent Petizon, director at AlixPartners. But if it's the other way around...
2° The employee’s profile. The zero-emission vehicle requires more qualifications in electronics and "soft" than in mechanics...
3°The margins will decrease the cost structure of the electric vehicle being higher than for thermal vehicles..
Hence savings plans to be planned for groups like Daimler: 4 billion.
Equipment manufacturers in the automotive world of tomorrow will have to quickly get up to speed:
so experts from the financial services company UBS dismantled piece by piece a Chevrolet Bolt from General Motors, sold in Europe under the name Opel Ampera-e.
Result: the Korean LG contributed more than 50% to the content of the vehicle with its battery and a myriad of key modules. Traditional equipment manufacturers, such as Delphi or Bosch, only account for 28%. So a turn to take eminently for some…
Oil and tankers will also have to change their strategy if the projections of the International Energy Agency (IEA) come true:
nearly 450 million electric cars would be on the roads by 2035 (battery and plug-in hybrids combined).
A drop of 4 million barrels per day in global oil consumption which does not seem dramatic compared to the 55 million barrels per day for the automobile industry.
In addition, the fleet of "classic" cars in emerging countries should continue to increase, without counting that of buses and trucks for air and maritime transport needs...
And it is up to oil companies to stay on track with the development of greener alternative fuels (bio and gas) and to prepare for technological change.
What they are already doing since the battery manufacturer Saft was bought by Total which
will install charging stations. To Shell for having taken over the Dutch electric charging specialist NewMotion at the head of 30,000 private points and 50,000 public points in Europe.
Mining companies specializing in cobalt, lithium, nickel or graphite present in batteries are big winners. Just like copper producers
Battery manufacturers have everything to gain.
Moreover, in battery chemistry, the Asians Panasonic, LG Chem, Samsung, CATL and others have acquired a decisive lead.
However, accumulators (10,000 euros on average) today represent half the cost of manufacturing an electric vehicle and more than a third of its final price !!!
Aside from Mercedes, the others source their supplies from Asia before assembling the packs in their factories.
A dependence on Asia is worrying for Brussels, which would consider setting up an “Airbus of automobile batteries” in Europe.
Tesla did not wait to install its "Boeing" in Nevada...
As for mechanics, they will have to pass authorizations issued by a training organization.
In the case of the hybrid, two approvals will be required to master the new technology.
Midas, Speedy, Norauto and others will also see around 20% of traditional interventions disappear but these networks with the largest resources are already very focused on electronics.
To be continued....

THE NEW BONUS-MALUS ALMOST ALL
MOTORISTS CONCERNED | At the beginning of July, the Minister for Ecological Transition, Nicolas Hulot, unveiled his action plan for the fight against global warming.
This plan aims in particular for carbon neutrality by 2050 as well as the end of diesel and petrol vehicles by 2040.
The bonus-malus system launched in 2008 has seen a reduction in the levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions each year.
And in 2017, the system evolved from tranches to a progressive evolution of the penalty to the nearest gram.
The 2017 Finance Act had lowered the scale from 131 to 127 grams. As a result today, "from 127 g of CO2 per kilometer traveled (g of CO2/km), you must pay 50 euros, then the amount increases according to the emission rate, up to a ceiling of 10,000 euros for vehicles emitting 191 g and more", according to the daily newspaper.
And now the ministry wants to change the bonus-malus scale for the purchase of new cars again, at a time when the 2018 finance law is being prepared. "The government is preparing an adjustment to the automobile bonus-malus," said the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition, which partly confirms an article in Le Parisien.
This would involve introducing a double penalty. The minimum emission threshold from which the penalty would be triggered could be lowered to 122 grams of CO2 per kilometer compared to 127 today.
But this would only be an appetizer to make motorists pay more.
At the same time, the government would like to introduce a second penalty which would affect all vehicles emitting between 95 grams of CO2/km and 122 grams! hundreds of euros depending on the category".
On average, the CO2 emission level for new passenger cars sold in 2016 was 110 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
All vehicles, even the most virtuous, exceed the 95 gram threshold!
What can we conclude from this?
Simply that almost all cars would be affected. The 95 to 121 g/km CO2 bracket currently concerns around 85% of new cars sold in France. Vehicles above 122 g/km (i.e. around 13% of sales) should therefore suffer a double penalty.
Even Toyota vehicles, which achieve the best results, emit 100.7 grams on average. This new penalty would apply to new vehicles from 95 g/km of CO2, the threshold that the European Union wants to impose on all manufacturers from 2021.
The ministry led by Nicolas Hulot simply indicated that the announcements would be made public "during September".
"The hypotheses considered on the penalty are far from what Le Parisien indicates, on the thresholds or the amounts, the objective not being to tax small vehicles with relatively low emissions", it was stressed at the ministry.
The objective of the system is to achieve an average of 95 grams of CO2/km for new cars sold in 2020, which is the European objective. "At this stage, the 2020 objective has not been achieved," the ministry added.
The National Council of Automobile Professions denounced on Twitter a measure which would be "unfair and ineffective" to the extent that the most vulnerable households would not change vehicles.
The government has also expressed its willingness to extend the conversion bonus, i.e. the subsidy for the purchase of an electric car against the scrapping of an old diesel. On the financing side, the ministry states that "the State will not earn a cent from this operation".
"The entire penalty is recycled into aid for households to purchase cleaner vehicles," he explains.
Let's wait until September and the decisions on the 2018 budget to find out more.

BUSINESS COLLECTOR VEHICLES
A HEN WITH GOLDEN EGGS | When we talk about collector vehicles, we are talking about beautiful cars from the past, but non-collectors do not imagine that all the rules they know will change completely !
Indeed, owning and driving a vintage car is a game-changer.
Let's take an example :
if you own a car of an old brand that still exists today, say a Ford, a beautiful Ford T which is an automobile manufactured from 1908 to 1927 by the Ford Motor Company and is the first car to be manufactured in series, no need to cross the doorstep of an agent (or dealer, or even branch) of the brand because they can't do anything for you !
Indeed, they will not do the maintenance for lack of competence, but also for lack of parts, etc...
For routine maintenance or a repair, you will either have to do it yourself or go to a specialist garage for classic vehicles.
And in terms of spare parts, here too, it is common, even often mandatory, to come to the garage with one or more spare parts, obtained through visits to shows, stock exchanges and certain suppliers of parts for vintage vehicles. .
You begin to understand!
No, it's not like driving a recent car.
We have learned that a passionate collector has an extraordinary stock of spare parts of all brands, but alas, taken by age (alas, no one is getting any younger) and health problems, he made the decision to part with his precious booty.
The parts are either new vintage or used and in very good condition with little or no wear, ready to be used for the maintenance and repair of classic cars.
Please note, this is a very large stock of parts (about 20 tons of parts), there is everything !
Platinum screws, 6v, 12v bulbs, lights, meters, engine parts, and many other things that we can't describe everything to you, that would take too long.
This is a rare opportunity, either for a collector or for anyone wishing to get into the very lucrative business of vintage car parts.
Yes, it's a very good plan, and even if it means repeating myself, the transferor is taken by age and complicated health.
Of course, you have to make him a reasonable financial offer, but if you are passionate or dream of getting started, to ensure continuity in all this, you will score one more point for closing the deal.
If you want to get started and you lack skills, the latter is even ready to accompany (coach) the lucky buyer to pass on his knowledge, for a very modest compensation, because it is also his passion that he can pass on .
If you are interested, do not hesitate to send me your details by email, as well as an offer, etc...
I will be happy to make the link, the interface to put you in direct contact with the transferor if you are French-speaking, or as an intermediary to help if you are English-speaking.
A meeting with a translator is of course possible with the transferor.
So go ! Because all this is an opportunity, but beware, the deal is good, it may go quickly.
For my email: tom.morgan@daynewsworld.com
See you soon !!

GENEVA FAIR
THE JAQUAR I-PACE CAR OF THE YEAR 2019
|
|

For 55 years, a jury of journalists from all over Europe has awarded the car of the year award.
The Jaguar I-Pace was elected Monday, March 4, "Car of the Year 2019", on the eve of the opening of the Geneva Motor Show to the press.
She won against six other finalists:
the Alpine A110, the Peugeot 508, the Citroën C5 Aircross, the Mercedes A Class, the Kia Ceed and the Ford Focus.
It succeeds the Volvo XC40 SUV (awarded in 2018), the Peugeot 3008 (2017), the Opel Astra (2016) and the Volkswagen Passat (2015).
The I-Pace Jaguar is a 100% electric compact SUV. It has a range of 415 km, a maximum speed of 200 km / h with acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.8 s.
This palm should be heartwarming in Jaguar, in the midst of trouble with Brexit and after heavy losses caused by the group Jaguar Land Rover ...
A rival of the Tesla.

AUTOMOBILE RULES MORE STRICT
TO APPROVE NEW VEHICLES
|
|

|
At the Dieselgate, new rules will improve the transparency of the approval and commissioning procedures for new vehicles. In 2015, the Dieselgate had weakened the automotive sector. Volkswagen has admitted to having equipped 11 million of its diesel cars, including about 600,000 in the United States, software capable of distorting the results of pollution tests. It could also conceal emissions sometimes exceeding 40 times the allowed standards. After the Dieselgate scandal, Europe continues to draw conclusions and adopt new rules. The agreement will enter into force on 1 September 2020.
Brussels has decided as follows: the tightening of the approval rules for new vehicles. An agreement was voted Thursday, April 19 by MEPs.
Controls and sanctioning power will be strengthened. If the parliamentary commission of inquiry had mentioned the creation of a European homologation body, the idea was finally not retained.
Mandatory controls
"This legislation will make cars safer and cleaner and, in combination with tests in real driving conditions, will ensure that a dieselgate will never arrive again," said the rapporteur of the text, MEP Daniel Dalton ( UK). In practice, the Commission may impose administrative fines on manufacturers or technical services. In addition, she will be able to test and inspect vehicles on her own.
As for the Member States, they will have to carry out every year a minimum number of checks of vehicles: At least one control every 40 000 new motor vehicles registered in the country the previous year and at least 20% of these tests will have to concern the emissions.
In addition, the technical services that carry out the certification tests will be subject to regular and independent audits.

THE VOLVO XC40 SACRED "CAR OF THE YEAR 2018"
|
|

The jury, made up of 60 European automotive journalists, awarded the coveted car title of the year 2018 at the inauguration of the Volvo XC40 Geneva Motor Show.
For the first time the Swedish brand, now owned by the Chinese group Geely, on the highest step of the podium For the first time in forty years the model is dedicated a "premium"
Until then, this prize, awarded by journalists from twenty-two countries, was de facto the preserve of generalist manufacturers. The last premium model that won was the Porsche 928 in 1978.
The Volvo, the second car-of-the-year SUV, was ahead of competitors in the race, far ahead of the Seat Ibiza, the BMW 5 Series, the Kia Stinger, the Citroën C3 Aircross
and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
The XC40 takes place on the fast-growing market of so-called "compact" SUVs and presents itself as an alternative to German "premiums" . In addition to a typical Volvo style and interior design, inspired by the "Scandinavian" style , the XC40 offers surprising driving qualities and a surprising level of comfort. There is no lack of this model in terms of technology, including autonomous driving.
The XC40 is the first model based on Volvo Cars' new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, which will power all future 40-series models, especially 100% electric vehicles. Developed in collaboration with Geely, the CMA platform enables Volvo Cars to achieve the necessary economies of scale in this segment.
The XC40 is also the first Volvo vehicle to feature Car Sharing, powered by Volvo's digital key technology and connected service platform, Volvo On Call
The XC40 is a modern, urban SUV that leans more towards SUVs than higher station wagons.
"This award from our new XC40 is very timely," said Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. "For the first time in its history, Volvo offers a range of three SUVs worldwide. As a future growth engine, the XC40 opens the doors for the new, dynamic segment of compact SUVs. "
An international award that once again marks the weight of compact SUVs on traditional sedans, which have been losing ground for several years.

TESLA SEMI-TRUCK UNVEILED | Whether it's design, energy type or driverless driving, many manufacturers have already shifted into second gear.
In 2016, Trevor Milton presented his new start-up, Nikola Motor, and its future electric truck, the One.
On Thursday evening, it was the turn of South African-born visionary Elon Musk to unveil with great fanfare near Los Angeles a 100% electric semi-trailer with futuristic lines.
He arrived in one of the trucks, jumping onto the stage like a rock star.
After his electric Tesla car, he is tackling trucks, a new frontier of "green" road transport.
"We designed the Tesla truck to be (aerodynamic) like a bullet," Tesla CEO Elon Musk said during the presentation. Its futuristic design with its aerodynamic profile, clean lines and bodywork in dark matte or metallic colors makes traditional trucks pale in comparison.
This new semi-trailer has 4 independent wheels and as many engines. It accelerates from 0 to almost 100 km per hour in just 5 seconds, according to the company's presentation.
For comparison, this corresponds to the performance of a Porsche 911 20 years ago!
Elon Musk assures that the performance gap with a combustion engine truck remains if a loaded trailer is towed.
Its announced autonomy is 800 km (500 miles) "loaded to its maximum weight and at highway speeds", Elon Musk affirmed in front of an audience of hundreds of potential customers. "Since 80% of trips are less than 400 km (250 miles), this means that we can go to our destination and come back without recharging", added Mr. Musk.
The designer has prioritized driver comfort in his design.
In fact, the Semi's cockpit has a height that allows the trucker to stand up and move around without any contortions in the cabin.
"The Tesla Semi will be much more enjoyable for truck drivers, while increasing their safety and significantly reducing the cost of transporting goods," according to Tesla.
While the purchase price of the Semi has not been revealed, Elon Musk has assured that the cost per kilometer of the truck will be 20% lower than that of a traditional truck: the truck's engines will have a 1.6 million kilometer warranty and the brakes will not have to be changed during the life of the vehicle.
Even with just one gear ratio, the Tesla Semi climbs a 5% grade at 65 mph (104 km/h), compared to 45 mph for a diesel tractor. A difference that allows Tesla Motors to promise a cost per mile on a mountain route that is half that of the best diesel tractors available today.
The company announced that production will begin in December 2019. With this little novelty, a small revolution is being prepared in road transport !

DS UNVEILS ITS LUXURY CAR THE DS7 CROSSBACK | "Premium represents between 10 and 15% of the global automobile market. On our scale, generating 10% of PSA sales in the long term, or 300,000 sales, is reasonable," according to Yves Bonnefont.
|
|
|
The DS7 rivals the Range Rover Evoque, Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Lexus NX.
|
|
|
Emancipated from Citroën in 2014 following the arrival of Carlos Tavares, DS displays its premium brand its luxury "SUV" the DS7 Crossback.
This Tuesday, February 28, a stone's throw from Place Vendôme in Paris, a symbol of luxury, DS unveiled to the press its
A resolutely high-end vehicle, with a profusion of leathers, felted materials which generously dot the upholstery, dashboards in warm colors, with parts such as crystal, noble products, sometimes worked by hand.
The model intends to play the card of "know-how and refinement, more than just mechanical performance", indicates Yves Bonnefont, the boss of the brand.
It will be sold at the price of an Audi Q3 and will be available in January 2018. PSA's high-end brand wants to take advantage of the major global boom in "premium" cars.
The success of high-end brands is mainly due to their quality image, their refinement, their comfort and driving pleasure, but also to their advanced technology. The DS7 Crossback "SUV" is no exception:
Night vision (intelligent headlights capable of adapting to the environment, infrared cameras allowing you to see obstacles on the road), driving assistance (semi-autonomous driving, monitoring driver fatigue, etc.), 100% automatic parking, etc.
The taillights incorporate a 3D scale pattern.
The DS7 Crossback is first and foremost a unique style that harks back to the Divine concept of 2014. The proportions are harmonious with lines that show attention to detail.
. On the mechanical side, the DS7 is based on the already existing EMP2 platform shared in particular with the Peugeot 3008 and 5008. It offers a new eight-speed automatic gearbox and engines capable of reaching up to 220 horsepower while remaining on four cylinders.
The DS7 Crossback will be produced in France in Mulhouse and in China in the Wuhan factory.
The manufacturer has great ambitions for this new model launched in early 2018 in Europe and in spring 2018 in China and intends to compete with the other major luxury brands that are posting record sales. Lexus, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo are competing with the German brands Mercedes-Benz, its Bavarian rival BMW and Audi.
These three top German premium brands together represent 6 million units. With Porsche, a whopping 70% of sales of "premium" labels worldwide ! |
